How facial treatments work
A facial is a sequence of steps carried out on cleansed skin. The surface is cleared, congestion is softened and released where that is useful, and the skin is left with what it needs and nothing it does not. Which of those steps appear, and how strong each one is, comes out of the reading at the start.

Your first appointment
The first ten minutes are the consultation and the reading under the lamp, before anything is opened. You will be asked what you use, what you take, and what has reacted before. A full appointment usually runs to about an hour and a quarter, and you leave with sun protection on and a short conversation about what is worth changing at home.

Do people really travel from Longstanton?
Yes. It is roughly 6.5 miles, north east via the A14, then follow signs for Upper Cambourne. Most clients are here in about 12 minutes.
How is the drive from Longstanton at rush hour?
The A14 queues around Girton and Bar Hill at peak. Heading south west towards Cambourne you are going against the heaviest flow, and late morning is the easiest slot.
Do I need a patch test?
For a standard facial, usually not. If anything active is going to be used, or you have reacted to products before, a patch test is arranged first and the treatment booked after it.
Will my skin break out afterwards?
It can, particularly after a first facial on congested skin, because clearing blockages brings some of them to the surface. It normally settles within a few days.
How often should I have one?
Skin turns over on roughly a monthly cycle, so monthly is the usual rhythm while you are working on something specific. Every couple of months holds it once you are there.
