What a facial here actually involves

A facial is a sequence of steps carried out on cleansed skin, and most of those steps are the same wherever you have one. What varies is whether they were chosen for the skin in front of the therapist, or decided before you walked through the door.

The first ten minutes here are a reading under a magnifying lamp. Your skin is looked at properly, and you are asked what you use on it, what you take, and what has reacted before. Everything after that follows from what the reading found. A congested skin and a reactive skin do not get the same appointment, and they should not.

What the lamp actually shows

A magnifying lamp is the first thing that happens, before any product is opened. These are the things it commonly finds, what each one usually means, and what changes in the appointment as a result.

Treatment length varies because the reading decides what is included. A fixed figure quoted before your skin has been seen would be a guess, and you would be the one paying for it.

What happens at your first appointment

The first thing that happens is the consultation and the lamp, not a product. Expect around ten minutes on that before anything is opened.

A full appointment usually runs to about an hour and a quarter. You leave with sun protection on and a short conversation about what is worth changing at home, which is as often about using less as it is about buying more.

Toskani is a pharmaceutical-grade cosmetic range. It is used here because it allows the treatment to be built for the skin on the day rather than bought as a fixed protocol.

Is a facial worth it if my skin is basically fine?

If nothing specific is bothering you, a facial is a maintenance treatment and monthly is more than enough. It earns its keep when there is something you actually want changed.

Will I be sold products afterwards?

No. You will be told what is worth changing at home, including where the answer is to use less rather than buy more.

Do you treat men?
