How facial treatments work

A facial is a sequence of steps carried out on cleansed skin. The surface is cleared, congestion is softened and released where that is useful, and the skin is left with what it needs and nothing it does not. Which of those steps appear, and how strong each one is, comes out of the reading at the start.

Products are pharmaceutical-grade Toskani, chosen on the day rather than bought in as a fixed protocol. Cryo globe massage and quantum light therapy go in where the skin will benefit from them, not as a standard add-on.

Who it is for

A facial earns its place when there is something specific you want changed, rather than as a general treat.

Congested skin

Blackheads, blocked pores and the bumpy texture across the nose, chin and forehead that has not responded to whatever you are already using.

Skin that has gone flat

Dull, tired-looking skin with no obvious problem to point at. Usually surface build-up and a routine that has stopped doing anything.

Skin that reacts to everything

If products keep stinging or leaving you red, the useful work is finding out what is causing it before anything active goes near it.

Your first appointment

The first ten minutes are the consultation and the reading under the lamp, before anything is opened. You will be asked what you use, what you take, and what has reacted before. A full appointment usually runs to about an hour and a quarter, and you leave with sun protection on and a short conversation about what is worth changing at home.

Questions

Do people really travel from Dry Drayton?

Yes. It is roughly 3.5 miles, north east on the Madingley road, then follow signs for Upper Cambourne. Most clients are here in about 8 minutes.

How is the drive from Dry Drayton at rush hour?

Village roads, so traffic is rarely the issue. Allow a little longer in the dark or after heavy rain.

Do I need a patch test?

For a standard facial, usually not. If anything active is going to be used, or you have reacted to products before, a patch test is arranged first and the treatment booked after it.

Will my skin break out afterwards?

It can, particularly after a first facial on congested skin, because clearing blockages brings some of them to the surface. It normally settles within a few days.

How often should I have one?

Skin turns over on roughly a monthly cycle, so monthly is the usual rhythm while you are working on something specific. Every couple of months holds it once you are there.

Do you treat men?

Yes. Shaving irritation, congestion and dull texture are among the most common things seen here.
